Vacation: Boston Public Gardens

Recently, Little Bear and I went on vacation to visit family. I was so excited that we finally got to visit Massachusetts in the summer. (Usually my hubby prefers to visit during the winter because he loves the cold.) There was one major MUST on my list: Boston Public Gardens. My daughter loves the book, Make Way For Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. For those that do not know, this book is set in Boston, it is the story of two ducks trying to find the perfect place to raise a family. I suspect my daughter likes this book so much because she likes to count the ducks and all the "ack" sounds. (All the babies have names that rhymes with quack). So what does Boston Public Gardens have to do with this book? The ducks in the book decide to live in the Gardens. There are swan boats just like in the story and an artist even created bronze statues of the mama duck and her ducklings for all the book loving people.

Here she is counting all the ducks. There are 8 baby ducks and 1 mama duck.

Here she is sitting on the mama duck.

Here she is with all the baby ducks following her.

You can see the swan boats in the background of this picture.

She loved feeding the ducks! They started following her around wanting more food.
All in all, it was a GREAT day and my daughter could not wait to come home and read the book!
