We are getting closer to starting Cub School! Today I made the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree. For those that do not know, the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault, is an alphabet book. In this cute little book, the little letters race each other to the top of the coconut tree "will there be a enough room?" My daughter loves this book! So when I decided to start Cub School I knew we had to have our own coconut tree! Each week when we start a new letter, I will give a little letter to Little Bear. (not sure if going to be magnet or paper, or velcro yet, although I am leaning towards velcro) Then Little Bear can put the new letter on the tree! I am hoping to get a nice little bean bag or something to put under the tree so that we can read our books there.
So here is the corner in our Cub Room:
Very bare I know. So, lets change that! I cut tree trunk pieces out of brown construction paper. I used about 4 pieces of paper. Then I cut out 3 circles in brown construction paper and colored them in with a brown crayon. ( to make them stick out and not be the same color as the trunk.) For the leaves I cut green construction paper in half and then cut out a moon like shape. Then I taped it all together on the wall! Here it is:
If you do not want to make your own Amazon has a GREAT coconut tree for only about $15. Check out my Amazon Favorites to check it out!
Little Bear was so excited about the tree, she ran to get her Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book and sat down under the tree. Then she asked me to sit and read with her! Best idea ever!
